It's a way of sorting the weak (Thinkers) from the strong. Agencies who were supposed to be looking after their clients reputations and didn't think that there just might be some conversation online don't deserve those clients. It's all billable days.

We all seem to be in agreement. Whilst setting up KeeMedia.net, I have taken time to visit many PR agencies websites. The surprising fact is that the greater number of those visited have very out-of-date “news” sections. What hope do their clients have in benefiting from the fast moving opportunities presented by Web 2.0.

I could not agree more!

To go further, I think many people don't really know the difference between and "Ad Agency" and a "PR/AD Agency".

A company acting as an ad agent for, lets say, an automotive manufacturer, might be great with creative. However, if they can't get the information syndicated effectively, what good is a polished gem that's just sitting on your desk?

Ian, you are so very right! Everyone wants to play but don't quite understand that Digital PR is a very different game. As a provider of advanced Online / Social Media analytics and community engagement management we are seeing all kinds of players trying to get their arms around the potential. Most players in our space are all about "Traditional Monitoring" and try to extend the same concepts into the Social Media world. Our clients see that we can take them far beyond Monitoring and help them instantly understand what thousands of people are saying. From there, be able to engage and leverage all of that information. We consider the need to be more of a Business Intelligence approach than traditional monitoring and counts.
Given you perspective, I'd really like to show you what we are doing!

You nailed it! Venmark International has specialized in product publicity for over 31 years and the news distribution business changed very little until this century. Then... wham!! Now, of course, the vast majority of media outlets (publications, web sites, etc.) prefer digital submissions. However, the key to getting widespread exposure still depends upon having a publicist who understands what is newsworthy and how to present it, along with the understanding of who to present it to and what their needs are...
